The Mexicana Airlines is one of the World‘s oldest airlines being founded in July of 1921 as Compania Mexicana de Transportacion Aerea, (CMTA) as a money carrier to oil fields near Tampico, on the Gulf of Mexico. The current airline name was first used in 1924. The first scheduled international flight was between Mexico City and Brownsville, USA.The Mexican airlines provide satisfactory service to the travelers. The Pan American held a majority interest in Mexican from 1929 onward.

The Comet 4Cs, were used on international services with DC-6s and DC-3s on the regional routes. In 1966 the airline introduced Boeing 727s with DC-10 wide body equipment.
